From New York/New Jersey
Take NJ Turnpike South and I-95 south to Washington DC and follow directions from Washington, below.
Alternate - Take I-95 South toward Wilmington, DE. Take Route 1 South, then US Route 13 South toward Cheasapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Follow directions below.
From Central Pennsylvania
Take US Route 15 South to Frederick MD, pick up I-270 South, then I-495 South toward Northern Virgina. Pick up I-95 South and follow diretcions from Washington, below.
Alternate - Take I-83 South toward Baltimore, then I-695 West, then I-95 South toward Washington, and follow directions from Washington below.
From Washington/Richmond
Take I-95 South toward Richmond, then take I-295 toward Rocky Mount NC (Richmond By-pass). Take I-64 East towards Williamsburg/Norfolk. Take I-64 East to exit 291-B. Immediately get into the far left lane and follow the exit for U.S. 168 South. Follow U.S. 168 South over the North Carolina state line. In Barco, NC, U.S. 168 South becomes U.S. 158 . Stay on U.S. 158 to the Outer Banks.
From Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel
Take U.S. 13 South from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to I-64 East. Follow the signs to Chesapeake. Get off I-64 East at exit 291-B. Immediately get into the far left lane and follow the exit for U.S. 168 South. Follow U.S. 168 South over the North Carolina state line. In Barco, NC, U.S. 168 South becomes U.S. 158 . Stay on U.S. 158 to the Outer Banks. Go to "When you reach the Outer Banks" below.
From the West and South
I-95, U.S. 64/264, go East on U.S. 64 off I-95 to Williamston, NC; North on U.S.17 to U.S. 158 at Elizabeth City, NC, then South on U.S. 158 to the Outer Banks.
When you reach the Outer Banks
Take U.S. 158 to the Outer Banks you will cross over the Wright Memorial Bridge. You will turn left onto Route 12 North towards Southern Shores, Duck and Corolla. Route 12 North becomes Ocean Trail. You will travel north about 25 miles, passing through the village of Duck, Sanderling, Pine Island, and finally into Ocean Sands. Turn right onto Driftwood Way at the entrance for Section K,L,M,N P,Q. Turn left at second stop sign onto Seamist Lane, and then turn left at second intersection onto Starfish Court. True Companion is the blue house on the northwest corner of Seamist and Starfish. Make a right into the driveway after turning left onto Starfish.

The closest commercial airport is located in Norfolk, Virginia, about 2 hours from the Outer Banks. Raleigh, NC is about 5 hours from the Outer Banks.
